EGR Valves for Iveco Daily
The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve is part of your Iveco Daily's emissions control system: it recirculates some of the exhaust gas into the inlet manifold to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. Over time, soot and carbon deposits clog the valve, causing obvious problems: loss of power, black smoke from the exhaust, rough idle, engine warning light on and, in the worst cases, the vehicle going into limp mode with reduced power. On Euro 4 and Euro 5 Iveco Daily engines the problem is especially common, particularly in urban use with frequent stop-start driving that doesn't let the engine reach high enough temperatures to clean itself. Cleaning the EGR valve can be a temporary fix, but when the deposits are too hardened or the mechanism has seized, replacement is the only way to restore proper performance and fuel consumption.
Compatibility
EGR valves available for every generation with emissions-compliant engines: Daily III Euro 3 (2000–2006), Daily IV Euro 4 (2006–2011), Daily V Euro 5 (2011–2014) and Daily VI/VII Euro 6 (2014–present), for both 2.3 and 3.0. engines
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I clean the EGR valve instead of replacing it?
Cleaning is possible if the valve hasn't seized mechanically. However, if the deposits are so caked on that they stop the valve plate moving properly, replacement is necessary to avoid engine damage.
What are the symptoms of a faulty EGR valve?
Engine warning light on, loss of power, black smoke, rough idle, higher fuel consumption and, in the worst cases, limp mode with reduced power. The fault code is stored in the ECU and can be read with a diagnostic tool.
Is the EGR valve different between Euro 4, Euro 5 and Euro 6?
Yes, each emissions standard has its own specific valve with different characteristics. It's essential to order the correct valve for your vehicle's Euro standard by checking the OE number.
